I was using my Sprint MM-A920 phone playing around with Pod2Mob’s free streaming podcast service — using the WAP URL — and I couldn’t log into the Pod2Mob menu to view my “Favorites” section. I had previously logged in via my computer and entered a few favorite podcasts into the queue.
When I entered my user name and password, the phone displayed: "The request was redirected and will require user data to be resubmitted. Are you sure you want to continue?"
When I pressed "Ok" on my phone, there was just an endless loop of being redirected back to the Pod2Mob log-in screen and getting the same “resubmit” message again.
However, I was able to access the Pod2Mob Web site and stream podcasts that I didn’t have to sign in to hear.
Quick fix
I sent an e-mail to Pod2Mob asking for help and quickly received a reply that a bug-fix was already programmed, but not yet implemented, on their server. But Pod2Mob implemented the fix on its server after I sent the e-mail.
Pod2Mob said it hadn’t completely tested the fix, but it works just fine for my handset via Sprint. (The company expects to have a fully-tested fix by the end of this week.)
As a result, with the A920 (that I’m testing for free courtesy of Sprint) I may now log in to view my list of “Favorites” using WAP. So thank you Pod2Mob!
Pod2Mob also has a Java client. From the company’s Web site you may instruct it to transmit the URL for the client to your phone. When you get the SMS with the URL you click on it to install the software on the handset.
That worked fine and I had no problems accessing all the features, including the “Favorites” list — without any bug fix required.
Pod2Mob versus Melodeo
Just a note: Pod2Mob enables me to stream podcasts over Sprint’s network. Melodeo’s Mobilcast Network — that offers the ability to stream or download and save podcasts on a cellular phones — does not yet work with Verizon Wireless or Sprint.
